Irmo Elects Hardy King as New Mayor
IRMO, S.C. (WOLO) — In a closely watched election between three of Irmo’s five current town council members, Hardy King wins, replacing Mayor John Gibbons. King beat out rivals and fellow council members, Barry Walker and Kathy Condom with a total of 351 votes to their 214 and 151 votes respectively. During his six-year term on Council, King has come under fire for not mincing words. He tells ABC Columbia News he realizes everyone will not always agree and he will ‘prove to all of them’ that he will do a good job as mayor. King replaces John Gibbons, who served as mayor for 20 years. Hardy King will be sworn in December 6th.
