Local Athletes Sign Basketball Letter of Intent

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Today marked the early basketball signing period for high school seniors to sign a national letter of intent. Irmo stand-out, Jordan Roper will play basketball next season with Clemson. Roper is a 6-foot guard with 1,219 career points. Roper, who was the Midland’s 4A player of the year in 2011, led his Irmo team last season to a 27-3 record and a 4A state championship. Spring Valley had four members of its girls basketball team sign national letter of intents. Asia Dozer (South Carolins), Xylina McDaniel (North Carolina), Juliet Love (Winthrop), and Shaquita Walker (South Carolina State). All four girls come from a long line of winning at Spring Valley. Their freshman year they won the state title. Sophomore year, state runner-up. Junior year, another state title. Senior year…we’ll have to wait and see.
