Sunoco CEO to speak as part of USC lecture series

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — The chief executive of oil refiner and gasoline retail chain Sunoco Inc. is speaking at the University of South Carolina about the challenges of her job.

The university says CEO Lynn Elsenhans is scheduled to give a lecture at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Darla Moore School of Business. A continental breakfast will be available at 8 a.m. Both the event and breakfast are free and open to the public.

Elsenhans’ speech is titled “Overcoming Barriers to Personal and Organizational Success.” She’ll address leadership challenges of a corporation, within the petroleum industry and as Sunoco’s first female CEO and board chairman.

Elsenhans joined Sunoco as chief executive in August 2008 after 28 years with the Royal Dutch/Shell Group. She was named board chairman in January 2009.

She lives in Philadelphia.
