Air Force vet to play 11 rounds on Veterans Day
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — An Air Force veteran is planning to honor his fellow servicemen by playing 11 rounds of golf on Veterans Day.
Mark Chapman is a 42-year-old veteran who’s scheduled to attempt to play 11 rounds on Friday, 11/11/11 at the Waterway Hills Golf Club in Myrtle Beach. He’s doing it to benefit the Wounded Warrior Project and as a salute to the Military Golf Association.
Waterway Hills has 27 holes, so Chapman is playing the Oaks Nine course 22 times. In total, the holes he plans to play amount to almost 39 miles in length.
Chapman has to play each round in just under an hour in order to finish during daylight hours.
