Man Gets 15 Years in Myrtle Beach Shooting Death

CONWAY, S.C. (AP) _ A Myrtle Beach man will spend 15 years in prison in the killing of a man whose body was found near an Horry County park last New Year’s Eve. Court records show 19-year-old Kendrix Corbitt pleaded guilty Thursday to voluntary manslaughter. Corbitt had been charged with murder in the shooting of 21-year-old Damian Pickett. While awaiting trial, authorities say Corbitt was arrested in August and charged with assault in the beating of a 56-year-old man. He is awaiting trial in that case.
