Citadel issues statement about ReVille allegation

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Citadel leaders say they regret not going to the police when they first learned of accusations that a youth camp counselor had watched pornography with two boys and performed a sex act in front of them.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reported (http://bit.ly/s9M4Sz) that Citadel President John Rosa and the chairman of the school’s board of visitors, Doug Snyder, issued a public statement Saturday saying they regret not pursuing the matter further.

They say one of the campers reported the incident by 32-year-old Louis ReVille in 2007, five years after the camper said it happened. They say ReVille denied the allegation and an internal investigation didn’t corroborate the story.

ReVille is charged with sexually assaulting five boys. His attorney has said that ReVille is “extremely remorseful” for his actions.
