Report: Haley seldom uses state-issued cell phone

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — A review shows that Gov. Nikki Haley uses her state -issued cell phone an average of only one call per day.

The State newspaper reports (http://bit.ly/s7thzD ) that Haley’s state-issued cell phone has been used fewer than 200 times from January to September.

South Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Dick Harpootlian says Haley’s infrequent use of her state-issued phone shows the first-term Republican governor secretly is conducting state business on other phones.

But Haley spokesman Rob Godfrey says the first-term Republican governor is not using a private cell phone to handle state business. Godfrey says Haley often uses staffers’ phones and has many face-to-face meetings.
