State museum hosts exhibit on bodies, health woes
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina’s State Museum is hosting a special exhibit showing preserved human bodies to inspire people to keep themselves healthy.
State Museum Education Director Tom Falvey says the exhibit in Columbia opens Sunday and continues through April 15.
Falvey says people should use the exhibit to educate themselves about human anatomy and learn to improve their health. The exhibit shows bodies with disease and in distress, comparing them to healthy ones.
The exhibit uses the process known as plastination, which extracts fluids and fats from donated specimens and replaces them with resins and polymers to preserve them.
Admission will be $11 for adults, $9 for senior citizens and $7 for ages 3-12 on top of general admission.
