SC woman accused in husband’s death arrested in NO

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — A routine traffic stop led New Orleans police to a woman wanted for murdering her husband in South Carolina.

Police say Officer Gerald Aufdemorte stopped 46-year-old Elvira Seay just before noon Monday because of a cracked windshield and broken turn signal. After questioning, the officer found erroneous information on paperwork she provided indicating her license had been stolen. After further examination, police say the woman finally gave him her correct information and that’s when he discovered she was wanted in Greenville, S.C., for allegedly murdering her husband last May.

Details of the crime were not released.

Police say Seay told detectives she left Greenville the day of the crime and came to New Orleans.

Seay is awaiting extradition and will be booked for murder upon her return to South Carolina.
