CLEMSON, S.C. (WOLO) — Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney says it’s a game time decision on whether or not his freshman wide receiver, Sammy Watkins, will be ready for the game on Saturday at North Carolina State. Watkins injured his right shoulder in the Wake Forest game last weekend. X-ray’s were negative and a MRI showed no structural damage. Watkins is cleared to play, but will most likely rest most of the week. Swinney indicated if this weekend was a championship game, Watkins would start and play in the contest. Freshman receiver, Adam Humphries, will most likely see more time against the Wolfpack with the anticipated loss of Watkins in the starting line-up. Humphries, a Spartanburg native, started the first game of the season at wide receiver against Troy. Coaches say he started instead of Watkins because the coaching staff was worried Watkins would be out of breath after the opening kick-off.
