Hagood to address ROTC members at SC State

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — The cadets of South Carolina State’s Reserve Officer Training Course are hearing from the first woman to serve as command sergeant major for the Army’s Adjutant General School and regimental corps.

Command Sgt. Maj. Darlene Hagood is scheduled to address the cadets Thursday at the program’s fall awards ceremony. Cadets were to be recognized for military, academic, physical and recruiting roles.

Hagood, who entered active duty at Fort Jackson in 1987, has been deployed twice to Bosnia as well as to Army units in Germany and South Korea. She has also served with Army units in Maryland, Texas, Oklahoma and Illinois.

The adjutant general school is at Fort Jackson.
