SC man gets life in prison for killing Tenn. man
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — A Spartanburg man has been sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted of killing a Tennessee man more than two years ago.
The Greenville News reported (http://grnol.co/s5JYuv ) 28-year-old Julian Deandre Battle was convicted Thursday of murder in a Greenville court in the 2009 Christmas shooting death of 29-year-old Rafael Dodd of Memphis.
Battle says Dodd was shot during an argument at a Greenville apartment between two sets of cousins.
It was Battle’s second trial. A jury in September was unable to reach a verdict.
Battle apologized to members of Dodd’s family after the conviction.
A murder charge against Clintonion Dupri Owens was dropped in exchange for his testimony against Battle.
