SC police describe man in impersonation probe

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office now has a description of a man officials are seeking in connection with a report of a motorist being pulled over by someone posing as a police officer.

The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reports (http://bit.ly/ue8ZNH ) that the man is described as a clean-cut white male about 30 to 35 years old with a crewcut. He’s about 6-foot-4 and weighs around 280 pounds with a muscular build.

The sheriff’s office is calling him a person of interest in at least one incident.

There have been five reported police impersonation incidents in Spartanburg and Greenville counties since Nov. 16. In one case in Spartanburg County, a woman says she was pulled over and sexually assaulted.

Spartanburg County Lt. Tony Ivey says there’s no evidence yet linking the incidents.
