Governor’s Carolighting Cancelled

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The 45th Annual Governor‘s Carolighting has been cancelled. After careful consideration and discussion between The Breakfast Optimist Club, the Governor‘s Office and the City of Columbia, the 45th Annual Governor‘s Carolighting scheduled for this evening has been cancelled due to the threat of forecasted thunderstorms. Columbia Mayor Steve Benjamin and Governor Nikki R. Haley, however, will hold a brief tree lighting ceremony at 6:00 this evening on the north steps of the State House. “My family and I look forward to the Carolighting every Christmas and we‘re very disappointed that the weather refused to cooperate this year,” Mayor Benjamin said. “I would like to thank all the volunteers for their hard work and tireless commitment to this wonderful event and for filling us all with the holiday spirit.”
