Batesburg-Leesville man dies in house fire

BATESBURG-LEESVILLE, S.C. (AP) — A fire at a Batesburg-Leesville area home has killed a 71-year-old man.

Aiken County officials say George R. Corder was found dead on his living room sofa Friday afternoon.

Coroner Tim Carlton says Corder appears to have died from smoke inhalation.

Investigators say the fire started on the kitchen stove.

Carlton says there were no signs of foul play.
