Woman dies in SC after collision with tanker

PORT ROYAL, S.C. (AP) — A woman visiting the Port Royal area for the Thanksgiving holiday has died after her SUV collided with a tanker truck.

Beaufort Fire Chief Sammy Negron says the crash happened Saturday near the Russell Bell Bridge. The chief says the woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck.

Firefighters responding to the scene didn’t report any spills from the tanker truck. The driver of that vehicle was not seriously injured.

Authorities say the incident is still under investigation. The woman’s name isn’t being released until family members have been notified.
