Prevention against holiday burglary
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — With the holiday season, burglaries typically increase as more people are spending time away from the home. Here are some tips to help you from becoming the victim of a home break-in. – If you’re going out for the evening, turn on some lights or the TV so it looks like you’re home. – Remember to lock your doors and windows. – Don’t put gifts in areas where they can be easily seen outside. – If you plan to travel this holiday season, make sure sliding glass doors are blocked with “Charley Bars.” – Use an electrical timer to turn lights on and off during the evening. – Keep your garage locked. – Have someone pick up your mail so it doesn’t accumulate. – Lastly, leave a key behind with a relative or neighbor in case something happens.
