CAYCE, S.C. (WOLO) — After ten years of the murder of Merry Shivers going unsolved, Cayce Police and SLED reveal new evidence that could lead to a conviction and make a public plea for people to come forward. At a meeting with members of the local press Wednesday morning, dozens of family members joined widower, Stan Shivers, to plead to the public for answers. They say the last ten years have been emotionally grueling, considering there has been no closure in the murder case of Merry Shivers. Shivers, who worked as a store clerk at the Piggly Wiggly on Charleston Highway, was gunned down during a robbery on November 30, 2001. Local and state authorities say they have “relevant details, interviewed new witnesses and are re-examining physical evidence” from the night of the crime. “We have gone through this over and over for ten years,” said Stan Shivers. “Imagine what you would want others to do.” Authorities are offering a $10,000 reward for anyone with information leading to an arrest and conviction. If you have information, call the Cayce Department of Public Safety at 803-794-0456 or 803-422-3088.
