Emails detail Citadel handling of abuse complaint

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — New emails released by The Citadel show a school attorney hoped to avoid a criminal or civil investigation if the school conducted an internal investigation of a 2007 sex abuse complaint against a former Citadel camp counselor.

That counselor, now 32-year-old Louis ReVille, faces nine counts of molesting young boys.

The state military college in Charleston on Wednesday released recently found e-mails pertaining to the 2007 complaint. The college said attorney Mark Brandenburg would not comment.

The Citadel received the complaint from a former camper about an incident that happened five years earlier at the camp, which is now closed. The school did not contact authorities about the complaint.

ReVille later worked with hundreds of children as a teacher and coach in Charleston area schools, recreation programs and churches.
