Police: Columbia shooting may be self-defense

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Columbia police are investigating whether a man shot to death outside an apartment complex was killed in self-defense.

Investigators said 26-year-old Timothy Sligh Jr. was shot more than once in the chest Tuesday night.

Police say Sligh came to the apartments to commit a crime and pointed his gun at another man, who grabbed his own gun and shot Sligh.

Authorities haven’t released the identity of the other man and say the investigation into the shooting continues.
