Honea Path city worker struck and killed by car

HONEA PATH, S.C. (AP) — A city employee in Honea Path working on water lines has been killed after he was struck by a car.

Authorities said 47-year-old Michael Darby was outside a home on U.S. Highway 76 around 10:30 a.m. Monday installing a water meter when he was hit. Darby was flown to an Anderson hospital where he died.

Troopers say they are talking to the 25-year-old driver who struck Darby, but no charges have been filed.
