Winkles wins eighth term as SC Farm Bureau head

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — David Winkles has been elected to another term as president of the South Carolina Farm Bureau.

The organization said Winkles won the election this past weekend held among the bureau’s 310 voting delegate farmers. This will be the Sumter County native’s eighth two-year term.

Winkles ran his family’s soybean, corn and cotton farm for more than 30 years, and is a nationally recognized speaker about how biotechnology can help farmers.

Winkles also serves as chairman of the board of the Farm Bureau Bank and as a member of the American Farm Bureau board of directors.

The South Carolina Farm Bureau Federation has 111,000 member families statewide.
