82-year-old man dies after slow roll into lake

BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) — Authorities say an 82-year-old man has died after the car he was driving slowly rolled into a lake in Bluffton.

Investigators said divers pulled the body of Le Roy Garner from the water Wednesday evening, a few hours after his Toyota Solara ended up in the water.

Witnesses say Garner had his windows down and his seat belt on as the car rolled into the lake at about 5 mph.

Beaufort County deputies and the Highway Patrol are investigating the incident. The coroner’s officer has sent Garner’s body off for an autopsy.
