Ex-Treasurer Ravenel suing over engagement ring

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Former South Carolina Treasurer Thomas Ravenel is headed to court again.

The Post and Courier of Charleston reports Saturday (http://bit.ly/t2CuXy) that court papers filed in New York’s Manhattan Supreme Court show the Republican is suing his former fiancée to get back an engagement ring.

Court papers say the 49-year-old Ravenel and Danielle Tosi broke off a two-month engagement earlier this year. Ravenel says he wants the $47,500 ring back.

Tosi has not filed a response. Ravenel did not immediately return a message.

Ravenel resigned after serving six months as state treasurer and spent less than a year behind bars. The multimillionaire land developer pleaded guilty to buying cocaine for himself and to sharing it with friends.
