Beaufort police probe death of man shot in car

BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) — Beaufort police are investigating the death of a man found shot in a car outside an apartment complex.

The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports (http://bit.ly/rJkpST0) that 51-year-old Mark Kevin Jones of Burton died while he was being taken to the hospital Sunday afternoon.

An autopsy is being conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Police responded after getting a report that a car crashed into a ditch near the entrance to the apartment complex.
