Ex-Latta band director gets 2 years in sex case

DILLON, S.C. (AP) — The band director at Latta High School has been sentenced to more than 2 years in prison for having sex with students.

Twenty-nine-year-old Tyler Hutto pleaded guilty Wednesday in Dillon to seven charges involving sex with three students.

Circuit Judge Paul Burch sentenced Hutto to two and a half years in prison. He also must serve five years of probation and will be listed on the sex offender registry.

Arrest warrants say the incidents involved a 15-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl.

Police say they found a third victim who also was a Latta High School student.

Hutto apologized in court. He had begun working as band director in 2006.
