SC police probe theft of family’s Christmas gifts

WELLFORD, S.C. (AP) — Spartanburg County sheriff’s deputies are hoping that some newly discovered surveillance footage will help solve a case in which burglars made off with a family’s Christmas presents.

On Dec. 8, a home in Wellford was burglarized while the family was out. Thieves made off with household items like a laptop computer and television, but they also took all the wrapped Christmas presents.

They took everything from a teddy bear and Barbie doll to sauté pans and a set of sheets, all ready to be opened on Christmas morning.

Lt. Tony Ivey says investigators have obtained security camera footage from a store in Greenville County showing a man and a woman using a credit card stolen from the home to buy clothing.

He says that might lead investigators to the burglars.
