Fake cop tried to pull woman over in Greenville
GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Greenville police say a man in an SUV tried to convince a woman he was a police officer and have her pull into a vacant lot.
Investigators said the man followed the woman for several miles around 11 p.m. Tuesday, shining his high beams into her car.
Authorities say the woman pulled over near downtown Greenville. She told investigators he identified himself as a police officer and asked her to pull into a vacant lot. She drove away instead, and the suspect stopped following her.
The woman told police the man was well-dressed and his vehicle did not have blue lights.
Five police impersonation incidents were reported in Spartanburg and Greenville counties last month, including a woman beaten unconscious near Wellford. The cases have not been connected.
