Final Moments of Murder Victim Caught on Tape
KERSHAW, S.C. (WOLO) — Surveillance video recently released shows images of Beverly Hope Melton entering a convenience store to pay for gas, as a suspected attacker, also caught on tape, proceeds to abduct, rape and beat her to death with a baseball bat, according to authorities. Kershaw and Chesterfield county authorities say 23-year-old Nickolas Miller can be seen holding the door open to 30-year-old Beverly Melton as she entered the store to pay for gas. The video also shows Miller getting in his truck and pulling off seconds after Melton pulls away in her car. Minutes later, police believe Miller ran the victim off the road before kidnapping, sexually assaulting and beating her to death with a baseball bat. The suspect eventually confessed, say police, and lead officers to Beverly Melton’s dead body, which had been dumped behind an abandoned turkey barn in Chesterfield County. Nickolas Miller remains in jail awaiting a bond hearing which will be set by a circuit court judge.
