Earthquake Near Summerville

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (AP) _ Another small earthquake has been recorded on the South Carolina coast. The U.S. Geological Survey says a quake of magnitude 2.6 was recorded around 3 a.m. Wednesday about three miles south of Summerville. It was the third small quake in the area during the past month. The epicenter was about three miles below the surface. Quakes of such magnitude are not usually felt by people. The quake was is the same area as a fault that caused the devastating 1886 Charleston earthquake that killed more than 100 people. That quake had a magnitude of 7.3.
