COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — The search for eighteen month old Amir Jennings is now getting national attention and spans three states. Law enforcment in Columbia, Atlanta along with the FBI and SLED are now investigating. But, there is still no sign of little Amir. “I’m very concerned about his safety, I’m very concerned that we don’t know…that family doesn’t know where Amir’s whereabouts are at,” says Columbia Police Chief Randy Scott. Eighteen month old Amir Jennings appears to have vanished without a trace. “We don’t know if Amir is with someone taking care of him, we just don’t know,” says Chief Scott. Police are searching everywhere. “Every corner, looking at every angle, every piece of evidence,” says Chief Scott. The problem is, there’s not much evidence to go on. “Currently right now we don’t have leads and that’s kind of disappointing,” says Chief Scott. “We are talking about a child that’s 18 months, that’s can’t fend for themselves,” says Chief Scott. Amir was last seen over the Thanksgiving holiday with his mother, 22 year old Zinah Jennings. According to an incident report obtained by ABC Columbia News, Zinah’s mother filed a missing persons report on both Zinah and Amir after she was unable to get in touch with or find her daughter. That was back in early December. Weeks later, Zinah was involved in a traffic accident. But, Amir was no where to be found. Police say Zinah hasn’t been very helpful with the search. “She has always been talking to investigators, but what she’s been telling investigators has always been inconsistent,” says Chief Scot.. So far, her stories have lead police to North Carolina and Georgia but still, no Amir. “Someone, somewhere has seen Amir and Zinah together or at least that’s our hope,” says Chief Scott. “At the end of the day what we are trying to do is get Amir back safe,” says Chief Scott. Chief Scott also says the investigation is on-going and although he doesn’t like using the words foul play in this case, they are not ruling that out or leaving anything to chance. If you have any information on the whereabouts of Amir Jennings, you are asked to contact Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME SC.
