COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — “That’s just ridiculous, people got pepper sprayed?,” says Devonte Bush. Some who live and work in the hard scrabble road area are shocked by what happened inside the area McDonald’s restaurant, Wednesday morning. “It’s childish, it shouldn’t happen, people need to do better with raising their kids,” says Bush. Just after nine Wednesday morning, Richland County Deputies say three suspects, they believe to be teenagers, went into McDonald’s and opened a can of pepper spray. Leaving those who work in the area, worried. “We was concerned about what went on because we don’t wanna be subject to the next one that happens, you know?,” says Veanetta Richardson, Taco Bell employee. Police say the stunt sickened ten people and sent one person to the hospital. While some are shocked, others not so much. “As a local business owner I do feel like the community is getting a little rough,” says Tory Hopkins, local business owner. Tory Hopkins owns a barber shop in the area. “They’re just misguided man and you know following the wrong people and listening to the wrong crowds,” says Hopkins. Authorities are looking for those responsible. If you have any information on the case, you are asked to contact the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.
