Man Charged with Manslaughter in Sister’s Killing

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) – Orangeburg County deputies have charged a man with voluntary manslaughter after he shot and killed his sister. Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said 25-year-old Akim Bartley grabbed a gun as he tried to break up a fight between his sister and her boyfriend Thursday. Investigators say Bartley pointed the gun at the boyfriend, then turned toward his sister and the gun went off. She died a short time later at the hospital. It wasn’t clear if Bartley had an attorney.
