GOP Drama ‘Good’ for South Carolina
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) — Romney’s out; Santorum actually won Iowa. With twists and turns personifying the race for the GOP nomination, local officials believe the drama is good press for South Carolina. Now that Texas Governor, Rick Perry, and former Senator Rick Santorum, have shaken up things in the race for the Republican nomination, where does that leave South Carolina? According to South Carolina GOP Chair, Chad Connelly, the state is right where it needs to be. Connelly touts the state’s reputation of ‘picking presidents,’ and says any press is good press for the state, which sometimes gets an unflattering rating from the rest of the nation. South Carolina’s GOP primary is Saturday, January 21, followed by Florida’s GOP primary on January 31.
