Day before primary, Stephen Colbert campaigning
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — One of South Carolina’s favorite sons isn’t even on the primary ballot and isn’t even sure he’s running for president.
But that’s not stopping Charleston-born comedian Stephen Colbert from holding a campaign rally the day before the South Carolina GOP presidential primary.
Colbert is appearing Friday with former presidential candidate Herman Cain at the College of Charleston. It’s an outdoor event being called “Rock Me Like a Herman Cain South Cain-olina Primary Rally.”
Cain dropped out of the race last month.
Colbert says a vote for Cain would be a strong message that people want Colbert on the ballot.
