9 SC Schools Named Finalists for Palmetto’s Finest
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ Nine South Carolina schools are finalists for awards that recognize innovation and excellence. The state Association of School Administrators named finalists this week for the 2012 Palmetto’s Finest awards. The winners will be named March 27 in Columbia. Each year, two elementary schools, one middle school and one high school receive the top honors. Twenty schools applied last fall. The elementary school finalists are Beech Hill Elementary in Dorchester 2, Burgess Elementary in Horry County, and Brushy Creek Elementary and Stone Academy of Communication Arts, both in Greenville County. The middle school finalists are Kelly Mill Middle in Richland 2 and Beaufort Middle in Beaufort County. The high school finalists are Fort Mill High in York 4, Hilton Head Island High in Beaufort County and Blythewood High in Richland 2.
