SC man sentenced to 35 years in girlfriend’s death

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — A 33-year-old Piedmont man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after admitting he killed his girlfriend in 2009.

Solicitor Walt Wilkins says Willie James Poole pleaded guilty this week to voluntary manslaughter in the death of 31-year-old Talibah Allen.

Judge Robin Stilwell sentenced Poole to 30 years for manslaughter and five years for weapon possession during a violent crime.

Allen was reported missing in January 2009. Two people riding dirt bikes found her body days later. She had been shot several times in the chest.

Wilkins says Poole and Allen had a daughter.
