Delay in SC road work help prompts candidate’s run
CAROLINA FOREST, S.C. (AP) — A delay in road work on U.S. 501 has done more than frustrate one Carolina Forest resident — it’s helped make up his mind to run for office.
The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (http://bit.ly/wODHT9 ) that Dennis DiSabato says infrastructure needs in the area is one of the main reasons he’s running for a seat in the state House.
At the top of his list is the widening of U.S. 501, which was scheduled to begin this year but has now been pushed back 14 months.
The state Department of Transportation says the reason for the delay is the large volume of design work in the region.
DiSabato says the state isn’t responding to the needs of the growing population in the area.
