College of Charleston completes draft master plan
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — An alumni center, a new residence hall and more classroom and parking space are part of a draft master plan for the College of Charleston.
The Post and Courier of Charleston reports (http://bit.ly/zdIhpk ) the plan would provide almost 900,000 feet of new space but not significantly increase the size of the college’s downtown campus.
The plan is based on keeping enrollment at about 10,000 students.
The plan includes nine new buildings, some of which might be combined. Eight others would be expanded and another eight renovated.
The plan took about a year to develop. There is no price tag because many of the details aren’t complete. The first two phases of the plan, including a resident hall, technology center and fitness center, could be finished in a decade.
