Bluffton age discrimination trial moves forward
BLUFFTON, S.C. (AP) — A federal judge has ruled that an age discrimination lawsuit brought by a former Bluffton police lieutenant can move forward.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports (http://bit.ly/yC810m) that Magistrate Judge Bruce Hendricks rejected a town request to dismiss the case brought by 55-year-old Katherine Sours.
Sours contends that her age was a consideration when she was laid off by the town in 2009.
The town contends budget cuts were the reason for the layoff. But Sours says two other lieutenants with less seniority kept their jobs.
