USC Aiken to honor slain police officers at game
AIKEN, S.C. (AP) — USC Aiken will honor the lives of two local law enforcement officers at halftime of its upcoming men’s basketball game with UNC Pembroke.
Ceremonies are scheduled for Saturday.
Aiken Master Public Safety Officer Scotty Richardson was killed Dec. 21 when he was shot during a traffic stop. Master Cpl. Sandy Rogers was shot and killed stopping a vehicle on Jan. 28.
USC Aiken’s athletic department says those attending will receive a ribbon of honor for the fallen officers. All law enforcement personnel and their families will receive complimentary tickets to the doubleheader. The USC Aiken women will also play UNC Pembroke.
USC Aiken’s women’s game precedes the men’s game and starts at 5:30. The men’s game begins at 7:30 p.m.
