Officials identify woman killed in Columbia fire

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Officials have released the name of a woman killed in a house fire in Columbia.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says 67-year-old Cathleen Dowdeswell died from smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning.

Firefighters were called to the home early Wednesday morning.

Officials say the fire started when a space heater in the living room ignited a nearby chair. Dowdeswell was found in the living room. There was no one else in the home.

Damage was estimated at $26,000.
