Lancaster Woman Is City’s 2nd Death This Week

LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) – A Lancaster woman has been found dead from an apparent gunshot wound and police say it appears to be the second homicide this week. Another resident of the home came home from work around 7:30 a.m. Thursday and found the house in disarray. Police found 47-year-old Cynthia Barnes dead in a bedroom of the home. Police Chief Harlean Howard says it appeared Barnes had been shot. An autopsy was planned Friday. Capt. Scott Grant says authorities have not identified a suspect. Former Major League Baseball outfielder Danny Clyburn Jr. was shot and killed in Lancaster early Tuesday. The 37-year-old Lancaster native had played for the Baltimore Orioles and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. 36-year-old Derrick Lamont McIlwain is charged with murder in that shooting.
