Horry County wildfire contained
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) — Firefighters say they have contained a fire in Horry County that burned 15 acres.
South Carolina Forestry Commission spokesman Scott Hawkins says firefighters were able to finish plowing a line around the fire Sunday night.
Hawkins says firefighters expect to completely extinguish the blaze later this week.
State firefighters were joined by fire departments from Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Conway and Murrells Inlet. Hawkins says crews do not expect the fire to spread.
No one was hurt in the fire that started Sunday afternoon. No homes were burned and no evacuations were necessary.
Hawkins says the cause of the fire is under investigation. He says investigators have talked with some children in the area.
