Columbia police taking donations for heart health

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Police officers in Columbia are spending their Valentine’s Day taking donations to benefit heart health.

The Columbia Police Department says some of its officers are manning various intersections around town on Tuesday. They’ll have buckets to collect donations to benefit the American Heart Association’s upcoming Midlands Heart Walk.

That event is happening on March 24.

Funds raised go toward research efforts on heart disease and stroke.
