Broken neck kills 85-year-old in school bus wreck
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Authorities have identified an 85-year-old woman who died when the Mercedes-Benz she was riding in crashed head-on into a school bus.
Investigators said Constance Myers was wearing her seatbelt, but died from a broken neck in the crash around 4:30 p.m. Monday on southeast Columbia. Her husband was driving the car.
Richland School District 1 officials say five special needs students from an elementary and middle school were on the bus and were taken to the hospital, along with the bus driver and an aide. They complained of head and neck pain.
Police are still investigating the crash.
