DC police arrest SC man in 1992 killing

WASHINGTON (AP) — Police in the District of Columbia say they’ve made an arrest in a 20-year-old killing.

Lamont Terry of Columbia, S.C. was arrested last month and has been returned to the District of Columbia, where he’s been charged with felony murder while armed.

He’s accused in the May 1992 death of Chet Hunter Matthews, who was shot in Hains Point during a robbery.

A police affidavit says Terry was arrested after two accomplices to the killing who have already pleaded guilty identified him as the triggerman.

A lawyer for Terry did not immediately return a call seeking comment Wednesday.

Court records show he appeared Tuesday in D.C. Superior Court and is being held without bond. A woman who answered the phone at a listing for Terry hung up on a reporter.
