3 Lexington County inmates take cooking classes

LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) — Three Lexington County jail inmates did more than just sit in their cells while serving their time.

The inmates took 30-minute food preparation classes that included training on cooking, cleaning, food safety and sanitation from the food service supervisor at the jail. They graduate Tuesday morning from the jail’s culinary arts training program.

Lexington County Sheriff James Metts says he offers the classes so inmates can learn skills that can help them get a job when they get out of jail.
