NWS confirms 2 tornado in SC; no injuries reported

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Forecasters have confirmed two tornadoes touched down as a line of severe storms pushed through South Carolina.

National Weather Service meteorologist Leonard Vaughan said Friday that EF-2 tornado touched down in Aiken and Lexington counties. Vaughan said a double-wide mobile home was destroyed, while two other homes were damaged and numerous trees were toppled. Winds were clocked at 130 mph as the storm carved an 8½-mile path.

An EF-0 was reported in Sumter County near Pinewood. Vaughan said the 80 mph winds from the storm touched down intermittently but caused no damages.

Near the coast, at least two homes were reported damaged as the storm hit Colleton County.
