2 missing SC children found unharmed

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Two Columbia children missing for several hours have been found at the home of a family friend.

Richland County deputies say the mother of 10-year-old Sylvia Bacon Scott and 8-year-old Michael Scott Jr. reported the two children missing at around 2 p.m. Saturday.

The woman said she and her daughter had argued that morning, and the girl took her brother and left the family’s home.

Authorities tracked tips throughout the day, using trained dogs and a helicopter to try to find the children.

Late Saturday afternoon, a caller reported seeing two children near downtown Columbia. Authorities say they subsequently found the children unharmed in a home three miles from their own.
